What You Need to Know about the Economic Impact Payments

The vast majority of people do not need to take any action. The IRS will calculate and automatically send the economic impact payments to those eligible.

Anyone with a TAX FILING OBLIGATION who has not yet filed a tax return for 2018 or 2019 should file as soon as they can to receive and economic impact payment.

If you still need to file use:

1. E-File - Taxpayers and tax professionals are encouraged to file electronically.

2. Free File - Use the IRS Free File if your adjusted gross income is $69,000 or less.

3. Direct Deposit - Combining direct deposit with electronic filing is the fastest way to receive your fund.

*The economic impact payment will be deposited directly into the same bank account reflected on the return filed.

The IRS urges taxpayers to be on the lookout for scam artists trying to use the economic impact payments as cover for schemes to steal personal information and money.

Remember, the IRS will not call , text you, email you or contact you on social media  asking for personal or bank account information – even related to the economic impact payments.

Also, watch out for emails with attachments or links claiming to have special information about economic impact payments or refunds.
