Planning

CAPDD's Community Services Department staff prepares master street plans and road plans for cities and counties. A Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy is also prepared each year to assist in long-term economic development for the District. Technical assistance and statistical information are provided to District residents and local governments, to aid in a variety of community planning activities.

Mapping services, including GIS (Geographic Information System), are available from CAPDD. CAPDD's GIS program is a resource for gathering and presenting information on geographical data such as roads, structures, bodies of water, and natural resources, to aid planning by government entities and industry. GIS information can be used to select a site for a new or expanded business, to determine the number of structures in a fire district, or to assist emergency management teams in locating correct addresses. It can provide a comprehensive picture of community growth, population distribution, land use, utilities distribution, or traffic patterns. For more information on any of the planning services offered by CAPDD, contact Libby Fort, Director of Community Services, at libby.fort@arkansas.gov or at 501-676-2721.
